HOW TO REPAIR A CORRUPTED MEMORY CARD OR A PENDRIVE

Their are many method available on the net for repairing the corrupted memory card but my favorite method is using cmd
It is the best method according to me which has repair my many memory card as well as pendrives
Their are many software available on the net which can repair memory card and pendrive but will b off trial period which will as for the purchase in the future or it will b a fake software ...

But This method which I'm going to tell you does not require any software download
we will just use a cmd to do our process and once our process gets over our corrupted memory card or pendrive will start working correctly....

carefully check out the process and do the same as said step by step( screenshots is also provided)....

Step 1 - Open cmd (not in Admin mode)

Step 2 - Now type diskpart and press enter

Step 3 - A new diskpart cmd window will appear we have to work on this window

Step 4 - Now on this window type list disk and press enter. After you press enter it will show all the harddisk an external storage devices connected to the pc
select the external storage device connect ie. the corrupted memory card or pendrive
you will know this device by just seeing the size of the disk
mostly Disk 1 is the external storage device

Step 5 - Now type select disk 1 and press enter

Step 6 - Now type clean and press enter

Step 7 - Now type create partition primary and press enter

Step 8 - Now type active and press enter

Step 9 - Now type select partition 1 and press enter

Step 10 - Now type format fs=fat32 and press enter
After pressing enter the formating will start
let the format to get completed

Step 11 - After the completion of format process type exit and press enter
which will exit the window

That's it your memory card or pendrive will start working properly
check out the working by transferring the files into it...

N as i say Enjoy Repairing.............!!!!!!!

    I've tried this method but after the STEP 4, there is no DISK 1 appears, only disk 0. what should I do? tnx

      reconnect your external device and follow the same procedure again

      Before step 4 your pendrive or memory must be connect to your pc and it should show the hardware in "My Computer" (that means your external device has been connected)

      then follow the steps and u will get the disk no. of that corrupted devices as you proceed to step 4

      i also have faced the same problem with some devices just reconnect it and follow the steps

      And if you device is not getting detected install drivers for that device and follow the procedure again

      may be ur memory card has been corrupted a lot ...

      try using different usb ports from the pc..and try to reconnect it...

      or install required drivers for the external drive into ur pc....
      or try using different card reader....

      MAY BE YOUR DRIVE HAS GOT CORRUPTED MORE OR THE DEVICE HAS NOT BEEN CONNECTED PROPERLY

      RECONNECT IT AND TRY THE PROCEDURE AGAIN

      the disk may be locked by an active process, in which case a reboot generally clears the error.

      if ur corrupted drive is a usb flash drive or memory card ,check that it does not have a write protect switch.This feature and will cause the above error if it is in protected switch mode .
      USB devices may also need a low-level format to reset the drive. In these cases, please see the manufacturer for such tools.

      reconnect , refresh d drive and repeat the procedure from step 1 , it should show the actually size of the xternal device...


      or u may have seen it wrong, d 30 mb would b the free space of the drive , check it again

      I am also having the same problem bro.. It is showing only 30MB in cmd... In My computer, it is showing to have an unrecognizable file system and asks me to format it... but i'm not able to format it.. My gmail id=n.routray27@gmail.com.     yes this will wipe all the data from d memory card permanently....

    try "I CARE" software to recover your data from the memory card first and den follow the above procedure to repair it....

      sorry but i also have faced this problem wid many of my memory card ....
      if this error comes means ur external drive has been completely corrupted
      try using this method many times if u r lucky enough ur extrnal drive will start working....

      i'll find out some solution to this problem and reply you soon...

      if u r talking about not being able to see the volume or size of the pendrive
      change the VIEW of the my computers to "tiles" or "content"

      and if u r talking about not being able to see the pendrive connected just try to update the drive from the control panel or install the required drivers for it...

      mr. ganesh try testing your device using "test link " software..
      download link-http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
      it will find out and fix the problm automatically...

      and if it won't help you out then uninstall the drivers for the USB thumb drive and then reinstall the drivers again after restarting your computer.

      try testing your device using "test link " software..

      it will find out and fix the problm automatically...

      if u r proceeding till step 6 den how can u get that message

      follow the steps properly u'll get your prblem solved...

      type " select disk 1" before clean ( disk no. will vary as accrdngly d devices connected to ur pc plzz c the disk no. carefully n den only enter it.
      here in this case it's disk 1 .... so i have typed "select disk 1 "...)

    and regarding the other from step 4 to 5 i think you guys have only type DISK 1 instead of SELECT DISK 1 since SELECT is not highlighted there... firstly i also have faced same problem but after looking the image carefully i got it.

      And if i try to format it in file explorer it says window cannot complete format and then it shows 0 bytes after again plugging my memory card all files are visible ......but none can be used pls help

      first try recover your data by using icare software

      recovering the data first will keep us on safe side ....

      den follow the above procedure....
      n regurding ur prblm...
      this is common prblm faced , there are many ways to solve it....
      1) uninstall the drives of dat usb and reconnect it it will agn reinstal the drives by its self n might start wrking agan....
      2) use software for solving this prblm which i have listed below

    My micro sd card is 64gb.

    After step 10 it says:

    "Virtual Disk Service Error:

      When you try to format a drive that is larger than 32 GiB , Windows will force you to use the NTFS format, even though it can read and write FAT32 drives of any size.

      use dis command first " format drive /fs:fat32 " before following the above procedure and here in d command Substitute drive parameter with the drive letter of the drive you want to format into a FAT32 volume.

      and if dis also does work try Fat32 formatter

    After step 7 it shows: "there is infufficiant free space to create a partition at the specified size and offset. Specify diiferent space and offset values or don't specify either to create the maximum seized partition".....what to do

    mine says "no disk found help me pls.."
    also im not sure if my sd card is really corrupted. It can be viewed on the computer but not on my tablet and mobile and i cant format it on both gadgets even on laptop. Also after deleting files through laptop once i reconnect it all the files are back. what to do ?? Pls help!!!

      dude u just got less space for creating partition primary...

      so just try to format ur drive using this softwares

      After plugging the pendrive in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the pendrive and restart your system.
      Try connecting the device again, i think this should solve the problem.

      After it get detected use the above procedure to repair it.... :-)

      If u r facing problem using Clean command
      try System Recovery Option to recovery/repair your drive at the boot time..

      restart your pc >>boot into advance boot option screen >> select repair your computer and press enter >> Select Start up repair

      after recovery follow the above procedure to again... :-)

      If your card is showing write protected try the solution below.....
      1. Remove the card adapter, along with the MicroSD card, from your card reader
      2. Slide the locking switch to the unlocked position. If your card adapter is not labeled, the unlocked position is closest to the front of the card where the metallic contacts reside. Insert the card adapter into the reader and try again; if you still cannot write to the card
      3.Remove the card adapter again and toggle between the locked and unlocked position three times. Stay on the locked position for 30 seconds and then switch it to the unlocked position. Try the card again.

      and after the removal of write protection follow the procedure on this page to format it.... :-)
